Renji, known by the alias Okuribi no Renji (送り火の蓮次), is an assassin under Shiranui who wields a yueqin (月琴) housing fireflies enhanced by a kodoku curse from Enmei no Niwa (延命の庭). Abused by his adoptive parents, he was shown kindness only by his sister Tsuyu, who died protecting him. In vengeance, he burned their home. His yueqin releases lethal fireflies, though Mao has severed his arm twice to stop him—only for Mei to regenerate it. Having suffered in his youth, Renji often sympathizes with prostitutes.
