Killy has been alive for a very long time; when he lost a large portion of his body mass, it took him over 14 years to regenerate; a lift trip took a minimum of 33 days. Tsutomu Nihei has stated that Killy is over 3000 years old and his memory loss is merely a side-effect of his aging.
Blame! and So On is an art book containing additional Blame! art that does not appear in the main manga. It also gather explanations and general lore for Blame! by Tsutomu Nihei.
Some of the information in the book is hypothetical and contradicting. It seems to guide the reader to interesting thought of "how could this be implemented?" rather than stating that something is "really like that".
